Cult – The dynamic new ideas from outside of tradition. A cult usually has a charismatic leader and often disappear as the leader dies.
Exogamy – the custom of marrying outside of one’s group. E.g. Exogamy go against the idea of the continuation of Jewish lineage.
Harmonization – The process of establishing harmony among varying views / beliefs by the claim that they all seek the same goal. e.g. Ramakrishna (1834-1886) proposed harmonization on religions. He tried the major religions -Hinduism, Christianity and Islam- and proclaimed that all lead to the same center in different ways. Additionally, the Neo-Platonists harmonized philosophy with religion in their approach.
Henotheism – A belief in many gods but one of them is worshipped as The Supreme of all
Immanence – A doctrine that portrays god as: in us, with us, by us. Radical immanence is called pantheism

Liberalism- A system/ ideology that condemns the traditional ways and offers to modernise the faith and practice. E.g. Muslim woman leading Jama’ah, homosexual muslims
Monism- A belief that we are all made up of one thing. We are all one stuff and governed by the same laws. E.g. Taoism
Monotheism- The belief in One and Only God
Mysterium tremendum – Otto’s concept of Numinous -transcendent / the Other- as awe inspiring
Myth: A belief / idea that gives certain identity to the people with a particular understanding of relationship with the sacred / Other
Mysticism- The term broadly denotes the feeling of immediacy and oneness with the Ultimate Reality on the part of the Self.
Numinous- Refers to the sense of reverential awe that a person experiences in the presence of God.
Orthodox- Traditional in faith and practice
Pantheism- The belief that god is everywhere in everything
Sect- Sect is an offshoot of a established religion. E.g. Christianity is a sect of Judaism.
Transcendent- The concept that revere the Sacred over and above profane.
Theodicy- The task of deploying arguments that seek to defend the coherence of Theism in the face of the problem of Evil.
Theism- It denotes the belief in the God, immanent and transcendent.
